Luxury Awaits at The Inn at Bowman's Hill

Since Engchik Eats is a travel blog as well as a food blog, I was very excited for Stephen and I to be invited to The Inn at Bowman’s Hill by Owner Michael J. Amery.

We have stayed here before, and for us, it’s all about the luxury and the ambiance.
When we drove up, the giant scrolled metalwork gate swung open to admit us, and we parked outside the courtyard. Inside, Louisa showed us to our room, up the stairs to the top of the Inn.

This time, we were staying in the Penthouse Suite, with a king size bed, a table and chairs, a large lounge chair, an antique desk, window seats with carefully crafted bookshelves, and a refreshment area with coffee, tea, and snack. Further inside the rooms, a giant Jacuzzi tub, and a shower with 11 shower heads awaited us. I’ve never seen anything like it.

The Inn at Bowman’s Hill is the winner for many consecutive years of the AAA Four-Diamond Award- the most prestigious award in inns in all of New Hope and Buck’s County, and now I see why.

The rooms include modern touches, like a starry sky over the Jacuzzi, marble bathroom, two gas fireplaces (although, even though it was the end of September, it was too warm for them), a couch and chairs, flat screen TVs and window seats in the annex which led out to our own private veranda overlooking the entire estate.

Trees edged the grounds, gently throwing leaves floatign to the ground. You could see how the leaves were ever so carefully losing their green to yellow.

The pool was down below and I had always, always wanted to swim in that gorgeous in-ground pool with the gardens all around.

The Inn’s resident chef, Anastacio has a cutie pie Shepard mix called Juanita, so Steve and I played with her a bit before taking a dip in the hot tub.

Steve doesn’t love the water as much as I do, so he sat under the wine and ivy-covered pergola that misted if he got too hot. I jumped right in and swam around happily. It was so quiet and the sun was so warm- it was perfect.

It got very warm, so we headed upstairs to the Penthouse and opened the champagne and cheese and crackers that had been left out for us.

Next we tried out the giant steam shower. At one point I had three separate shower heads spraying me with deliciously warm water- all while hot steam luxuriously enveloped us from the steam vent below.  This is definitely the way to take a shower!

We had dinner down the road at Bowman’s Tavern (not affiliated with the Inn); Steve had chicken pot pie, I had the scallops over squash grits, and we shared the mac n cheese appetizer.

Dessert we took back to the Inn- seasonal berry crumble and raspberry-sauced cheesecake.

I decided to soak in the large Jacuzzi tub while Steve sat outside to read. One corner of the ceiling above the tub had been painstakingly designed to look like a starry night with an occasional shooting star twinkling overhead- the effect is truly magical.
It boasts over 300 fiber optic lights to create these stars.
I then turned on the over-tub TV, sipped champagne, and chuckled at the Friends episode I was watching as the Jacuzzi's bubbles melted my stress away. It was wonderful.

Soon, we were sleepy. We both fell asleep quickly in the wonderful tranquility, but I kept waking up and wandering around. I truly loved this suite. I made tea and sat outside on our little deck, watching the lights change color in the pool, looking up to actually see the stars overhead. The silence was absolute.

Eventually I went back to bed and fell asleep, and woke up before Steve. I made coffee and watched the sun rise over the trees while sitting on the window seat and just feeling content.

When Steve awoke, we headed downstairs for the main event- Chef Anastacio’s signature Inn breakfast!

Yogurt, muffins, berries, homemade granola, coffee, tea, toast and fresh jam was placed on our table, and that was just the beginning.

Owner Michael came out to chat with us, and it was so great to see him.

We then had the traditional English breakfast with potatoes, scrambled eggs, beans, tomatoes, sausage and bacon, and I had a fluffy soufflé-style omelet.

It was incredible- as the Inn keeps their own chickens and the eggs are super fresh.

After breakfast we headed back upstairs. I took another soak in the starry Jacuzzi, just because I could, and then Steve and I sat on our deck and watched the chickens and ducks run across the grounds around the fountain.

All too soon, we had to pack up and head home. Staying here truly refreshed our soul and made us feel amazing- we’ll be back soon!
